My Story
I believe we all have a story to tell. We each come with joys and sorrows, and the desire to find a safe place to process and share our story. Whether you are pregnant for the 1st or 10th time, or you’ve walked through loss and tragedy, I’m here to listen and walk with you through the next part of your journey.
A little about my story: I think I can honestly say, I’ve ALWAYS been enamored with babies. As a tiny girl, I “mothered” all my baby dolls. I swaddled them, dressed them and pretended to feed them. When I grew up, I just wanted to be a mom. My mom was my role model. She ran a daycare in our home and truly cared for each child and their family. It wasn’t just a business, it was also a ministry to families. I loved when a new baby would join, and I got to watch how she loved and cared for them. (and I got to hold them!)
As soon as I was old enough, I started babysitting. I made .50/hour to start! I loved taking care of kids….especially the babies. I earned a BS degree in Child Development and Family Studies and immediately continued down the path of supporting families. I was a nanny, worked in day care centers, created a drop-in home daycare, and for over 20 years was the Early Childhood Director at Friendship Church in Shakopee, MN. I also love supporting women and families as a postpartum doula and most recently as a birth keeper/doula. I am now retired from my ministry at church, so I can fully focus on supporting women and families in this chapter of their life. I’ve also experienced the profound joys and deep sorrows that sometimes come along with bringing children into the world. My story of becoming a mom to eight kids has been fraught with challenges. I’ve had personal experiences with; being a single mom, being a step mom, being codependent in my dysfunctional marriage, abuse, multiple miscarriages, child loss, traumatic birth experiences, critical stays in NICU and postpartum challenges. HOWEVER, I have seen God’s incredible mercy and love for me. I can see how God is redeeming my story through the ways He is using my experiences to shape my heart and my approach to supporting families. It’s given me a unique perspective on the sacredness of birth, loss, and the journey of motherhood. My mission as a doula is to provide holistic care that nurtures not only your physical well-being but also your emotional and spiritual health. I offer personalized support for each family I work with, ensuring that both mamas and dads feel empowered, informed, and deeply connected to God’s beautiful plan for their lives. Whether you are navigating pregnancy, preparing for labor, or adjusting to life with your new baby, I am here to walk alongside you with compassion, prayer, and encouragement I would be honored to support you and your family as you step into this incredible chapter of life! “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139: 13-14
